Three ways to reach us

The form. The form on this page is the fullest way to start. It has a message box for the details that change a search, and a placement advisor replies by email, call or text.

Chat. The chat button on every page connects you with the placement desk. It suits quick questions, such as whether your situation is one we can help with or what a quote depends on.

WhatsApp or text. If messaging is easier, use the WhatsApp or text buttons on the site. Each opens a message to the placement desk with a short note already filled in.

All three reach the same placement desk, so pick whichever suits your day. When you write to FNU's Clinical Outreach and Placement team, your Clinical Advisor or your RCF, use your FNU Outlook account, which keeps your official record in one place.

What to include

A few details let a placement advisor give you a useful first answer instead of a list of questions.

• Program. Your track, and whether you're in the MSN, the post-graduate certificate or the DNP. Clinicians should choose the preceptor option.
• Clinical start. Whether Clinical Bound is already booked, next term, two terms out or further away. Your degree audit shows your Projected Clinical Bound Term.
• City and state. Most FNU students train near home, so your county shapes the search more than anything else.
• Course and hours. In the message, name the course you need a site for, such as NM752 or MH751, and any hours or visit counts still outstanding.
• What you've tried. Community Map contacts, local practices and people in your network who have already said no, so nobody approaches them twice.
• Licenses. Every state where you hold an RN license or compact privilege, since you need one wherever you train.

What happens after you send it

1. A placement advisor reads your request. They look at your track, location and timing against FNU's rules for your program, and note anything that could stall a CSAF later, such as a family link to a site or a state where you hold no license.
2. You get a reply. By email, call or text, as the form explains. Expect a few follow-up questions if your plan involves several sites or a telehealth share.
3. You receive a written quote and terms. You see both before you commit to anything, and you can ask questions, compare options or decide not to go ahead.
4. If you go ahead, the search starts. From there the steps follow FNU's own order, laid out on how it works.

Questions only FNU can answer

Some questions belong with FNU, and you'll get a firmer answer there. Your registration status for Clinical Bound, whether your credentialing file is complete, what your syllabus says about hours at your workplace, and any exception to a preceptor rule are all FNU decisions.

For those, go to your Clinical Advisor, your RCF, your Clinical Credentialing Coordinator or your Academic Advisor, who hold your FNU record. A placement advisor can help you word the question so the answer you need comes back in one reply.

For clinicians and practices

If you're a nurse practitioner, CNM, physician, PA or therapist who has been asked to precept an FNU student, choose “I'm a preceptor (not a student)” in the Program field and tell us your specialty and where you practice. A placement advisor replies with what FNU asks of preceptors in that track.

The background, including FNU's preceptor rules, the honorarium and the evaluation tools, is on precepting FNU students. FNU's Clinical Credentialing team handles the affiliation agreement and your credentialing directly with you and your practice, and a placement advisor can walk you through each of those steps before they arrive.
