What shapes the cost of placement help for an FNU student
Every quote is written for one student, because two FNU students rarely need the same search. Your quote depends on your track, where you live, how close Clinical Bound is and how many sites your hours need. You get the quote and the terms in writing before you commit to anything.

Why there's no single price
A PMHNP student in a large city, with telehealth allowed for up to 450 hours, is a different search from a nurse-midwifery student in a rural county who needs a CNM or CM, a clinic and hospital births. The outreach, the checking and the number of sites all differ, so one flat figure would be too high for some students and too low for others.
FNU itself says rotations “can be competitive, especially in certain regions.” That competition is uneven across states, specialties and even neighboring counties, and it is one of the main reasons quotes vary. A placement advisor looks at your situation first and writes the quote for that.
What goes into your quote
These are the factors a placement advisor weighs. Each one is tied to an FNU rule or to how clinical sites are spread across the country.

Costs that come from FNU, sites and travel
Some clinical costs come from FNU itself. FNU's fee table lists a Clinical Bound Facility Fee and a Lab Fee, and FNU publishes a travel estimate for each campus trip. You pay CastleBranch directly for your compliance package, and any extra requirement a clinical site sets is at your own expense.
Some sites charge a rotation fee. FNU reviews these case by case and, where it judges them appropriate, pays the site against an invoice. FNU will not pay rotation fees without an invoice, supplies sent in place of payment, or cash paid to a site.
FNU also states that it does not pay for preceptor-finding services, so a placement fee is yours to cover, and your quote arrives in writing before you decide.
Travel can add up. FNU notes that some students need to travel or relocate temporarily for clinicals, and a relocation FNU requires because of supervision concerns is at the student's expense.
What waiting can cost
Delay has its own price. The catalog says students without a complete clinical plan before Clinical Bound registration may need to take an Academic Hiatus, and FNU limits students to two hiatus terms in any 365 days. Missing the CastleBranch clinical compliance deadline blocks registration, which FNU says may bring late registration fees.

Use the form below or the chat. Give your track, city and state, Projected Clinical Bound Term and the clinical courses you still need, such as FNP752 and FNP753. A placement advisor may ask a few follow-up questions, then sends the quote and terms in writing.

Questions FNU students ask
Why is each quote written for the individual student?
Because a number posted in advance would be wrong for most FNU students. A search for hospital births and a CNM in a remote area takes far more outreach than one primary-care site in a city. We quote each student in writing once we understand the track, the location and the timeline.
Is the preceptor's honorarium part of my quote?
No. FNU pays its preceptors an honorarium based on the program and the number of hours, after the student finishes the practicum. That is an arrangement between FNU and the preceptor. Your quote from us covers our search and preparation work only.
Will my quote change if I need another site later?
It can. A second site because your first one lacks the volume for a visit type is new work. The written terms say what a fresh search covers after a preceptor drops. For anything else, ask before you agree, so nothing surprises you mid-practicum.
Can I get a quote while I'm still in my first term?
Yes, and an early quote is often the most useful kind: it tells you how hard your search is likely to be while you still have terms to work with. FNU gives you an RCF and a Projected Clinical Bound Term in your first term, so you'll have the date we ask for.
What happens if FNU doesn't approve the site?
